We are seeking a detail-oriented Manufacturing Cost Accountant to manage product costing, inventory accounting, and cost analysis for an industrial manufacturing business. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of manufacturing cost accounting and can analyze production costs, inventory, and margins to help improve financial accuracy and profitability.

Experience with QuickBooks, Fishbowl, or other accounting and inventory management software is welcome. A strong grasp of cost accounting principles is more important than experience with any specific software system.

Key Responsibilities

• Calculate and analyze product costs, including direct materials, labor, and manufacturing overhead.
• Maintain accurate inventory valuations for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.
• Reconcile inventory records to accounting records and investigate discrepancies.
• Monitor cost of goods sold, production costs, and gross profit margins.
• Analyze actual costs against budgets, estimates, or standard costs and investigate variances.
• Support month-end close, general ledger reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Work with operations and production teams to improve cost accuracy and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience in cost accounting, manufacturing accounting, or a related accounting role.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing costs, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold.
• Experience with product costing, inventory reconciliation, and cost variance analysis.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and communicate financial information effectively.
• Manufacturing experience is strongly preferred. Experience with QuickBooks, Fishbowl, or other accounting, ERP, or inventory systems is acceptable.
